Dr. Alexander Moewes is a Professor and Canada Research Chair in Materials Science with Synchrotron Radiation at The University of Saskatchewan located in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. His research group, the Beamteam, is studying the electronic structures of new and advanced materials.
Our Research
We are studying the electronic structures of new and advanced materials. We are using synchrotron radiation to perform soft x-ray emission and absorption spectroscopy of systems like biomaterials, superconductors and transition metal compounds.
Details
Our techniques are x-ray emission spectroscopy (XES) and x-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS). The research is currently carried out at the Advanced Light Source synchrotron facility located in Berkeley, California.
Our research focus will shift to the Canadian Light Source (CLS) when the XES/XAS beamline becomes operational at CLS.
